Yasmin and the white pills!?

Yea so i'm on Yasmin birth contol and i heard that the purpose of the white pills is to have a period. So my question is can i get pregnant if i don't take those white pills for a week and continue my news pills the following week. So basically i'd be taking no pills (the white ones) for a week! Will this have any effect or what??
