I am a mother of two kids and I went through the same thing too. No he is not right about that, it is just things that mothers do even if it is her first kid. Yes you are still in a danger zone for miscarriage. No it is not wrong to be so excited. It is just what mothers go through when they are going to be having a baby. I it fine to be excited about having your first baby.
