How do I tame my blue tongued skink?

Ok so I went to the pet shop yesterday and handled a skink. He did not show a sign of stress or nothing so I got him. I take him home let him chill in his new cage which is a 55 gallon which is more than enough for him considering hes still a bit small. I turn his light on today go to handle him and he makes some huff grunt sound. I said to myself not gettin bit so I throw on some gloves on pick him up and he was fine for a bit I put him down to just let him walk around he trys to run and I go twords him and he huffs again! I payed $150 for him and I really am not looking forward to having an aggresive lizard. I had tons of lizards from iguanas to frilled dragons but besides my iguana none of them ever showed aggression twords me. Can I work on this or should I just not waste my time with an aggresive lizard and just pick up a ball python. I know its been only 1 day but still none of my lizards ever did that to me. I really need some advice. Oh I forgot to mention when I took him out of the bow to put him in his cage yesterday he tried huffing too.
