Do you think that laws that are meant to protect us should be abolished?

I'm talking about laws like wearing your seat belt or narcotics. What right does the government have to infringe on our personal choices? It's not like me wearing my seat belt is going to save someone Else's life. Or if someone is going to use drugs it's not like they are harming anyone but their self.
