DIY Uses for old 56k Modem?

I was cleaning today and found some old computer junk. I was thinking that old 56k modems might be usable in some kind of cool DIY project. Has anyone ever done anything cool with em? Maybe one can be used in conjunction with Skype to plug in a regular phone and use over VOIP.
